The
Spring 2002 edition included:
PAUL
MAC - Bored by consistent
clubbing at the end of the nineties and
forced to relocate due to his house burning
down, music programmer Paul Mac retreated
to his new Blue Mountains hideaway and
immersed himself in the recording of
his album "3000 Feet High",
free of any external influences.
BODYJAR
- Bodyjar’s career is somewhat
anomalous – with close to a decade’s
experience, six acclaimed albums under
their belt and hordes of dedicated fans,
their own brand of brash, unpretentious
music-making has consistently innovated
and inspired, providing something of
a benchmark for scores of upcoming Aussie
and international punk-rockers.
GRINSPOON
- Hailing from Lismore, N.S.W, and first
shooting to national attention in 1995
as winners of Triple J’s inaugural
Unearthed competition, Grinspoon have
enjoyed a steady and consistent rise
to the top, to become one of this country’s
premier rock acts.
COAL
CHAMBER - "Bands today
are tapping into kids’ emotions
and using them, using their souls for
their own gain. Sure, I care about record
sales, but not if I have to exploit my
fans to get them. I want to empower my
fans and give them wings of metal and
steel, wings to help them fly over this
world we’re in right now. This
is a crazy world, and a little bit of
empowerment can go a long way".
BLACK
REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB
- "We
get motorcycle gangs, usually the Hell’s
Angels, coming along to the shows all
the time. We were in Brooklyn playing
a show just the other day and a gang
called the Bridge Runners Motorcycle
Club came to the show in force, rode
up right in front, walked upstairs and
asked what was going on. They have the
same letters as us and they even have
giant gold belt buckles that read BRMC,
which I kind of wanted".
MUSICIAN
TIPS, TRICKS AND TRADE SECRETS
- Australian Musician originally set
out to collect a bunch of helpful tips
from musicians both here and overseas.
The submissions we received ranged from
best ways to keep your guitars strings
vibrant to songwriting tips to heart
felt philosophies on life, to the down
right ridiculous. We thought the best
way to present these to you was to just
throw them all together and let you,
the reader decide what might be useful.
Enter at your own risk and take from
it what you will!
