The
Winter 2002 edition included:
Silverchair
- silverchairs return to the music
scene after a long hiatus, has been peppered
with critical acclaim. "Its
all been overwhelming with the response
weve gotten so far" enthuses
silverchairs bassist Chris Joannou.
Ben
Folds - There aren’t too many performers
who can do what US born, Adelaide resident
Ben Folds does so incredibly well. On
his recent Australian tour it was just
Ben, a piano and a few spotlights yet
he managed not only to entertain with
his ridiculously melodic songs and vibrant
piano playing, but also gave totally
engrossing performances featuring a wit
and storytelling ability others just
couldn’t aspire to.
Gene
Simmons - Kiss’ fire-breathing bass
player and founding member - recently
released "Kiss And Make-Up", his first
autobiography. The book is a no holds
barred account of his life and times
with one of the world’s biggest rock
bands. The biggest shock to long time
fans will come with his revelation that
Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, didn’t play
on a lot of the Kiss classics or even
at times, live on stage.
Betchadupa
- Adrian Pertout speaks with Liam Finn
(son of Neil) from Auckland, New Zealand
about his new ‘Betchadupa’ project entitled
‘The Alphabetchadupa’.
Andy
Fairweather Low - Roger Waters seems
oblivious to the fact that he’s only
an hour away from playing to thousands
of fans at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
Long-time friend, Andy Fairweather Low,
knows all too well that the founding
member of Pink Floyd is a perfectionist.
Microphone
Technique - Microphone technique
is not so much about what you can do
with the microphone but how you can achieve
the best possible sound results from
them.
Pacifier
(AKA SHIHAD) - When Osama bin Laden
and his al-Qa‘eda network were out to
destroy the foundations of western civilisation,
he didn't think about the consequences
it might have upon the global music scene.
Weekend
Warriors - It was at the Aspley Leagues
club. What stood out to me was that the
singer and I had a similar performing
style. We did six songs but it felt like
it was over in a minute. It was exhilarating.
My wife said I looked really happy up
there. Our drummer is my brother, and
his kids were there. They draw pictures
at school of their dad and their uncle
in a band, I think Ive got credibility
there!
