DD DUMBO WINS TRIPLE J OZ ALBUM OF YEAR

The annual J Awards were announced at a short but sweet ceremony at Howler in Melbourne today. Hosted by Triple J morning crew Matt Okine and Alex Dyson, four awards were presented.

Australian Music Video of The Year went to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard for their ‘People-Vultures’ clip, directed by Danny Cohen and Jason Galea. Accepting the award, the band said they had come straight from rehearsals,  just five minutes from the venue.

Tash Sultana took out the award for Unearthed Artist of the Year. Tash has developed a considerable following since being ‘Unearthed’ by Triple J not so long ago. The talented singer, songwriter impressed everyone last night with a powerful performance at the Age Music Victoria Awards too.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard returned to the stage to accept their second award, this time from Myf Warhurst for Double J Australian Artist of the Year.

The Awards, which were broadcast live wrapped up with DD Dumbo taking out Triple J Australian Album of the Year for his Utopia Defeated record.
