The Production Company is thrilled to announce they are bringing the David Bowie and Enda Walsh musical Lazarus to Melbourne in May 2019.
Lazarus was David Bowie’s final project, first staged in New York in late 2015. This will be the Australian premiere of this ground-breaking musical. Lazarus features 18 David Bowie songs including Changes, Heroes and Absolute Beginners. Inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis – the movie also starred David Bowie – it focuses on Newton as he remains on earth, unable to die. We follow him during the course of a few days where the arrival of another lost soul might finally set him free.

Public are now invited to join the wait-list to be one of the first in line for ticket information at

Executive Producer Rachel D Taylor said “Lazarus was a dream come true for David Bowie, for decades he had spoken about writing a show, and when it was announced off-Broadway in 2015 the entire season sold out in a few hours. When I read the script I found it incredibly moving, especially knowing that it was one of his final projects. And seeing songs like Heroes and Changes come out of the story was just spine tingling. It’s rare to find a musical like Lazarus.” Chairman Jeanne Pratt said “I am so excited that The Production Company will bring this ground breaking show to Melbourne. I think it’s going to be a great event for Melbourne and a must see for lovers of David Bowie and musicals alike.”

Lazarus will be staged for a strictly limited season in the Playhouse at Arts Centre Melbourne in May / June 2019.
Lazarus is proudly presented by arrangement with Robert Fox and Jones / Tintoretto Entertainment.
The Production Company’s Season 2019 will be launched on February 19, 2019.

Jackson is honored to welcome incredibly talented guitar genius Jeff Loomis of Nevermore and Arch Enemy to its artist roster.

“I’m very excited to announce that I will be working with Jackson guitars on many upcoming projects,” Loomis said. “We are underway designing a Jeff Loomis signature model that will be unveiled at the 2019 NAMM Show in Anaheim, Calif.”

Emulating the brisk fretwork of his guitar idols, Loomis first burst on the music scene in his home state of Wisconsin as a teenager. After being crowned the winner of a Guitar Wars competition and a battle of the bands with his first band, Fear-Tech, Loomis landed an audition with Megadeth. Then only 16 years old, he was deemed too young to join, and instead went on to craft a complex playing style all his own.

Loomis has since seared his mark on multiple subgenres of metal with his distinctive rhythmic style, smooth technique and breakneck speed. His uncommon guitar style and sharp songwriting prowess became central to Seattle-based progressive metal band Nevermore’s sound, as heard on acclaimed albums Dead Heart in a Dead World and This Godless Endeavor.
Loomis said his connection with Jackson dates all the way back to the early ’90s and his earliest days with Nevermore.

“I started playing Jackson guitars early on in my youth and in the early stages of my first band, Nevermore,” Loomis said. “To be able to work with their excellent staff of amazing luthiers and craftsman on a one-to-one basis now is really a dream come true.”

After departing Nevermore, Loomis released two solo albums bursting with intricate fretboard action and soaring solos. Now, as guitarist for world-renowned Swedish melodic death metal act Arch Enemy, he adds brute force to his masterful and complex playing, and he continues to build on his legacy with truly astonishing riffs.

Loomis’s spellbinding playing is heard on the latest Arch Enemy release Will to Power, which the band is now touring behind through mid 2019.

Live production crew are the unseen but essential backbone of the music events that we all enjoy, but these roles can often take their toll on those involved.

An Entertainment Assist study, conducted by Victoria University in 2015, revealed shocking rates of mental health problems within the entertainment industry. Figures showed the rate of attempted suicide in the industry is more than double the rest of the population. Scarily, it also found road crew members considered taking their own lives nearly nine times more than the general population.

Independent figures have shown one in six roadies commit suicide over eight times the national average!!!

The inaugural Roady4Roadies is our chance to give back to those who give us so much with walks taking place in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth on Sunday, 10 March and in Adelaide on Sunday, 24 March.  The walks are open to the public and industry alike, with all profits going to Support Act.

What Crew Do from Aussie Adventure on Vimeo.

The aim of Roady4Roadies is to bring public awareness to the diverse range of highly technical and creative skills required to make our dreams to come true, and raise desperately needed funds to help those in crisis.

The day commences with the Roady4Roadies Walk (a leisurely 4-5kms) culminating in a variety of family activities and performances at well-known entertainment precincts.  All walk participants receive a free t-shirt & crew laminate – with sunscreen and bottled water available along the route.

Then there’s the Crewathlon, a fun and friendly competition for teams of roadies, with events including the Cable Comp, Stage Manager Sprint, Lighting Crew Limbo and Sound Crew Shimmy! There’ll be food, awards, speeches and prizes. The day concludes with live entertainment from some of the country”s leading artists.

Renowned music industry figure and author, Stuart Coupe, is the Roady4Roadies Ambassador. Stuart’s most recent publication, ‘Roadies – The Secret History of Australian Rock N Roll’ documents the history of crew, their trials, tribulations, successes and humour and is available now at

Roady4Roadies is being staged by a voluntary team of Australia’s leading live production personnel and industry professionals. All proceeds go directly to Support Act.

Tickets for the Roady4Roadies walk and family day entertainment are on sale now. Go to for information on each city’s walk and Crewathlon venue and to register / purchase tickets.

PARIS, FRANCE – OCTOBER 20: Peter Frampton opens for Deep Purple at Le Zenith on October 20, 2013 in Paris, France. (Photo by David Wolff – Patrick/Redferns via Getty Images)

GRAMMY® award-winning guitarist, singer, songwriter, and innovator Peter Frampton will receive the prestigious Les Paul Innovation Award at the 34thAnnual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards (NAMM TEC Awards), being held Saturday, January 26, 2019, in Anaheim, CA. The award is given to those individuals who personify the innovative thinking of Les Paul, the Father of Modern of Music. The Les Paul Foundation partners with NAMM each year to honorthe individuals that have set the highest standards of excellence in the creative application of recording technology, which also celebrates the legacy of the late, great Les Paul.

Frampton notes, “It is a distinct honor to receive the Les Paul Innovation Award. I would say that many of my career highlights occurred while holding an instrument in my hands that bears Les Paul’s name. I was lucky enough to know him personally, and I owe him so much. He was a wonderful character as well as a genius! An incredible guitar player as well as the inventor of so much music technology. Les changed the way we record forever. I can only hope that I’ve been able to make a fraction of the positive impact that Les Paul made in his iconic career.”

Frampton is one of music’s renaissance men, having begun a career in his early teens, and still making his mark today in the areas of recording and touring. A multi-platinum-selling artist, he recently celebrated the 42ndanniversary of his fifth solo album, Frampton Comes Alive!, an album that remains one of the top-selling live records of all time with over 17 million copies sold worldwide. In 2007 he won the GRAMMY award for “Best Pop Instrumental Album” for Fingerprintsand in 2014 was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.

“Peter Frampton remains one of the most skillful and celebrated artists in rock history. He also was a friend of Les Paul’s and has played a pivotal role in helping the Foundation keep Les’s legacy alive,” shared Michael Braunstein, Executive Director, The Les Paul Foundation. “Like Les, he is an undeniable master of his instrument and in many ways ahead of his time. We are honored to have Peter join the impressive list of Les Paul Innovation Award recipients.”

Frampton’s storied career began at 16 as the lead singer and guitarist for the British band The Herd. By 18, he co-founded one of the first supergroups – the seminal rock act Humble Pie. His touring years have included work with a who’s-who of the top names in music, such as David Bowie, Stevie Nicks, Gregg Allman, Ringo Starr, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cheap Trick, Steve Miller Band, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, and many others. Additionally, he took his eponymous Peter Frampton’s Guitar Circus on the road for two years with special guests B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Vince Gill, Larry Carlton, Robert Randolph, Don Felder (formerly of The Eagles), Dean DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Sonny Landreth, Robert Cray, and Roger McGuinn (The Byrds).

His session work includes collaborations with artists who have made their mark on the industry including George Harrison, Harry Nilsson, Jerry Lee Lewis, John Entwistle, Mike McCready, and Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam), among many others.

Frampton’s talent has also stretched beyond music and into the realm of television and film. He was called upon by Oscar-winning writer/director Cameron Crowe to serve as technical advisor for the film Almost Famous (2000) and even appeared in the film and composed several songs for the soundtrack. Frampton has appeared as himself in The Simpsons and Family Guy.

Les Paul invented the solid body electric guitar, multi-track recording, overdubbing, echo, reverb and numerous other recording techniques. Without Les Paul, the music industry would not be what it is today. He is often called the “Father of Modern Music,” “The Wizard of Waukesha” and even the “Thomas Edison of Music.” Les founded the Foundation prior to his passing and wanted to inspire young people to invent, create, innovate, and get involved in music while exploring their own creative ideas. Today, The Les Paul Foundation works with organizations throughout the country in support of music education, engineering, and medical research. The Les Paul Innovation Award at NAMM and the Les Paul Spirit Award are two of the most prestigious awards celebrated by the Foundation.

With the honor, Frampton joins Jackson Browne, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Don Was, Slash, Todd Rundgren, Pete Townshend, Steve Vai, and others, who have received the Les Paul Innovation Award since it began in 1991.

Announced early this year, Leslie Ann Jones, the Grammy-winning groundbreaking engineer, producer, and Director of Music and Scoring for Skywalker Sound, will be inducted into the NAMM TEC Hall of Fame that same night. Jones joins luminaries Rose Mann Cherney, Skunk Baxter, Hal Blaine, Jack Douglas, Nathan East, Geoff Emerick, and others with her induction, the industry’s highest honor for pioneers of audio technology and the music industry’s most accomplished producers and audio technicians.

The NAMM TEC Awards are held during The NAMM Show, the global gathering of music, sound and event technology industries, in Anaheim, California, January 24-27, 2019. They are bestowed annually in honor of the many individuals, companies and technical innovations used in sound recordings, films, broadcast television and video games. Nominees were announced earlier this year. Stand-up comedian and entertainer Demetri Martin will host the ceremony.

Iggy Pop, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Fantastic Negrito and The Marcus King Band tours announced for April

Often considered the godfather of Punk – Iggy Pop is making a welcome return to Australia this April with tour dates just announced in Melbourne and Sydney’s Opera House! Widely acknowledged as one of the most dynamic stage performers of all time, Iggy Pop pre-figured both ‘70s punk and ‘90s grunge and has built a legendary career filled with both critical acclaim and fanatic cult success. Seeing Iggy Pop rock out is definitely a performance to put on every music lovers bucket list.  Iggy Pop is sure to entertain audiences in Melbourne and Sydney this April.

The travelling merchants of R&B blues Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats are taking to the road across Australia this April with live dates set for Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne in conjunction with their performance at Byron Bay Bluesfest. The seven-piece Soul band will be gracing Australian stages again in 2019 but this time with a new album under their belt and an even larger Australian audience after a reinvention of Nathaniel’s style in 2015 which is designed to be performed live. Known as party animals on stage, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats offer a unique live performance with a front man who possesses a husky sixties styled voice with inflections of Gospel and a vibrant soulful band to support it.

Bluesfest Touring is super excited to bring Grammy Award winner, Fantastic Negrito to Sydney and Melbourne this April. Fantastic Negrito represents Xavier Dphrepaulezz’s third rebirth, literally coming back from death this time. The narrative on this man is as important as the sound, because the narrative is the sound. His songs are born from a long hard life channeled through black roots music. Fantastic Negrito is the story of a man who struggled to make it and with an incredible, self-taught musical talent, he managed to find his way back on track to stardom. His hard-earned life lessons show through on more than a few songs with his voice wringing with emotion over soulful guitar licks. When you listen to Negrito, you’re invited to hear the story of life after destruction.

South Carolina Blues Rockers, The Marcus King Band are making their Australian debut this April with dates confirmed in Sydney and Melbourne ahead of their Byron Bay Bluesfest performance this Easter. Lead by the 22-year-old phenom Marcus King, the band have exploded over the last year bringing their southern fried brand of Blues and Psychedelia inspired Rock n’ Roll on a global tour. The band operate as more of an improvisational juggernaut versus a one-man axe-wielding show backed by a few musicians. After being labelled a highlight of multiple European festivals earlier this year for delivering their own mix of Rock n’ Soul, we are really looking forward to seeing these guys rock the stage and make a lasting memory for fans in Melbourne and Sydney this April.
